Do you have an old record you can’t buy on CD? An old cassette, minidisc, 78 or perhaps a tape of a family event? Do you have an old reel to reel of an interview, though long lost?
We can transfer these to compact disc or digital files. Cost depends on the length of the material, whether you want the CD to (for instance) have separate tracks to match the LP and so on.
LP transfers are done with a high quality turntable and cartridge which produces a result with no audible inner-groove distortion. Great care is taken to ensure a technically excellent reproduction of the original material, even correcting for off-centre pressings if necessary. We can remove clicks and pops, tape hiss and generally improve the sound of most originals.

Something Different can professionally re-master your old audio recordings to CD. We use only the highest quality equipment and apply the highest detail to ensure you receive only the very best possible quality. Annoying noises such as clicks, crackle, pop, hiss and background noise are reduced from old home made recordings and we even separate tracks where practicable. Sound levels are adjusted and normalized if possible. Our CDs can be played in your Audio CD Player, DVD player, Blu-ray Player, PC or Mac (with CD drive). Digital file output to any format is also available for any application. Something Different transfers more audio formats than anyone else in the midwest.
Our audio transfers are far more than just a straight transfer to CD.
We use professional broadcast quality equipment operated by highly experienced technicians (no low end or automated processes are used) and digitally optimize your audio signal, with track sets for each side of the tape / LP or if required, for each song to make audio searching easier.
Here are the steps we perform to create our CD/ USB Drives or the Cloud Upload:
- LP transfer – clicks, crackle, pop, hiss and background noise are substantially reduced
- Separation of audio tracks (for an added fee)
- Correction of Playback Speed
- Digital noise reduction where applicable
- Remove long ‘dead’ spaces from the recording
- All outputs are generated as originals (not dubs or copies)
- Separate track (or a digital file) for each song or tape side multiple tapes(if requested)
- Compilation to a single CD (if required),
- We can create a personalized disc and cover highest photo quality full color printing directly onto CD face highest quality CD cases highest quality media used
- All processes are undertaken by experienced technicians
- All work is stored in our system for 1 year in case of any changes or copies required
With so many benefits we offer in our Audio to CD/USB/Cloud package, no-one does it like Something Different …
REEL TO REEL
Something Different can preserve your old audio reel to reel recordings by transferring them to CD. Something Different can remove the tape hiss or even hum that may be on your source tape depending on the age. Harmonic enhancement brings back lost frequencies. Compression evens out volume level fluctuations. The result, a CD that sounds better than the source tape!
If you have photos or artwork to scan, attractive custom jackets and labels can be made as well.
An excellent gift idea! Preserve that special tape that’s getting old. Turn your demo tape into a demo CD. It’s affordable and fun!
Let us bring your special recordings into the digital age and preserve your memories for generations to come!
